Cultural exchange for Indian youth in cooperation with the Goethe Institute
Twenty Indian teens visited Munich from May to early June 2011 on a cultural exchange. This allowed them to not only improve their proficiency in the German language but, above all, to gain insight into German culture. The participants, who were between the ages of 15 and 16, competed for a place in the project and were selected by a panel of judges from the Goethe Institute in close cooperation with the G&D Foundation. Key criteria in the selection process were the candidates’ knowledge of German and their interest in Germany.
The project’s varied program included visits to the Allianz Arena, the BMW Museum, the G&D Banknote Museum, Munich Airport and the Bavaria Film Studios.
The exchange program culminated in a long weekend in Berlin, to give the teenagers a glimpse of Germany’s political culture as well.

Giesecke & Devrient Foundation Receives Deed of Foundation
On July 13, 2010, Christoph Hillenbrand, District President of Upper Bavaria, presented the deed of foundation for the Giesecke & Devrient Foundation to Verena von Mitschke-Collande, Dr. Karsten Ottenberg and Dr. Ulrich Klopsch, thus constituting the Foundation as a legal entity.
G&D set up this non-profit organization with the aim of channelling and intensifying its corporate social responsibility.

Giesecke & Devrient establishes foundation
At this year’s annual report press conference, Giesecke & Devrient announced the establishment of the G&D Foundation. A press release published today contains the following paragraph:
G&D continues to take its social responsibilities seriously. The family-owned company has established a charitable foundation furnished with basic assets of 20 million euros. The foundation will be focusing its efforts on supporting projects and programs in the fields of education, intercultural understanding, and the art of printing.
The inaugural meeting of the Giesecke & Devrient Foundation took place on May 10, 2010.
